I am hunting for a bargain on one more book I need for spring semester. Is it better to buy one right at the end of this semester or wait until January? Anyone have experience with bargain hunting or suggestions? Right now the Amazon price is about the same as the bookstore.

If you've got a Kindle books are much cheaper. I think its by like 20% at least (some more).

Kindle books are horrible for texts books because you can't highlight or reference pages as quickly. Check the barnes and noble website. That's where I've always gotten the best deals on all my text books! They usually have deals that are around 50% off the regular text price and if you become a member you can save even more.

Costs might go down if you try buying nearer to the end of this semster. By then people will be selling back their texts to bookstores or getting rid of them online so bargains might be more competitive.

Buy books AFTER you know what the teacher will use. Don't spend all this money on books only to find out the teacher doesn't use the book or extra guides. You can find info on the internet for free and save money on all those "recommended" books for the course.

I bought all of my spring semester books already, most a good bit cheaper. My best deal? My 120 dollar Psychology book for 5 with the shipping! The secret, past editions. This isn't the best route with most nursing books but your other classes, its an awesome way to save a lot of money.

I wouldn't wait too long to get it. I had a few friends who waited until a couple weeks before the semester started and for whatever reason, the books did not get there before class started. I'd say jump on getting the book at the end of this semester. If you wait until Jan, all the books might be gone.

Amazon was the same as the bookstore? Really? I've found a brand new text (hard cover, still in shrink wrap) for $85.00 and everywhere else new was $165. I've also found new books from amazon that were selling cheaper than the bookstores used prices. I've made out like a bandit with books for both my books and my daughters.

I either buy my books from Amazon or rent them (especially if I plan not to keep the books) or whichever is cheaper. I'm ballsy and tend to order my books 1-1.5 weeks in advance before the start of the semester. There's only been one time when my books arrived late. If you have Amazon and are a student (you must have a .edu email account), you should seriously consider Amazon Prime -- you'll get your books in two days with free shipping AND your first 6 months as an Amazon Prime member is free. After that, it's 30-something and some change to maintain membership.
