How many nurses do you think are working in such areas?

Living is Southern California many seem afraid to look their age. I notice we nurses generally have much less than those on camera.

What is your opinion on nurses working in cosmetic surgery during the flu season?

I too wonder how many nurses are working in cosmetic surgury, but I couldn't find much with a Google search.

My cousin is an experienced IV nurse. When her hospital shut down she looked into possibility of working in cosmetic field.(out patient) However she found that they paid between seven and nine dollars less an hour than she currently makes. They wanted her skills really bad but they did not want to fork out the money for the skills. This is a very lucrative field and you would think they could afford to pay competitive wages.

Does anyone expect plastic surgeons to do a shift in ER due to the busy flu season? I don't think so!!!!!! Why are nurses the only ones expected to be selfless and go above and beyond the call of duty?

Good point.

I have worked with 2 plastic surgeons and one has a LPN that works for her and the other an RN and the accountant also helps out in surgery. They stated the pay was not good but the benefits were great! They got all the free plastic surgery that the doc felt would be medically and cosmetically benefical for them!

Thought I saw a fairly recent thread here dealing on two nurses who basically ran a botox clinic in Texas.

Sounds like a potential money-maker to me. [be sure to secure a primo professional liability policy with to-the-max coverage and all appropriate (and favorable) terms.]
