NCLEX review book?

Our instructors are encouraging us to get the RN book and start reviewing now for our test in the summer. But so far none of them have had a specific recommendation - Mosby, Saunders, etc.

Anyone out there have a recommendation?

Cindy

This question gets asked a lot. If you do a search on NCLEX books you will get lots threads.

But here is my opinion.

The saunders book was recomended by one instructor. But many of my classmates use the incredibly easy book and say it is good too. I think that they all are good. And are all about the same price.

Good Luck.

you can check reviews when you look up the books at Amazon.com also-

I really like the Mosby's book. It come's with a CD and with justification for the answers which really helps. I haven't even opened the book and just went with the CD and I feel it really helps for the NCLEX.

I have the Saunders and Ilike it fine, but what I really love is the Incredibly Easy NCLEX book. I just love any book in that series.

I've checked out a lot of books from the library to determine what I like best. I bought a Kaplan book (about $35) and that teaches strategies on how to pick the "best" answer. There is a practice test in the back that gives rationales along with a CD that has NCLEX type test. You can then look at areas that need improvement. This is a test that can be only taken once.

I had looked at the Mosby book (about $40). This book gives a review on each topic and then has exams for each topic with rationale. It also has a CD that has questions with rationale. The Saunders book is pretty similar to this book also.

I personally would suggest both books. Good Luck!

I picked up a Saunders "Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN" for about $30 and so far think it's a great book. We're required to have it for senior year, but I thought I'd start early and review over Christmas, etc. My friend also picked up a Saunders "Q and A for NCLEX-RN" and said she likes that one too. Best part is that we can both switch. Bottom line is that there are so many out there, it's really personal preferance which one you like better. I've also heard good things about Mosby's....just stop in a Barnes and Nobles and check some out. Good luck! :p

:D I just wanted to say "hello!" to a fellow Iowan, come join us on the Allnurses Iowa board ;)
