This may have already been answered before, but I cant find it anywhere, so I am going to ask. I am a new grad, tested on Sept. 1, passed NCLEX, am now licensed in one state----but am pretty sure I have a position lined up in another state. My question is how do I go about getting endorsement without having worked any under my new license??? I know that some states want you to either have worked or take some kind of class. I just graduated in August; I dont feel like I need to take this course nor do I have the funds really. Is there something that I am missing?? Help me out here please. I really need to move things along quickly or I will not get the position. Thanks to all who can help me out.

What I would do is call up the state board of nursing it the state you now have the job in and explain your situation. They should be able to help you.

Exactly! But, like you mentioned in the original post, some states may have their own requirements. For example, in WA state, you need to have completed a 7 hour HIV/AIDS course prior to applying for a license. I was able to get the course completed through my new employer when I relocated here from NV.

The state board of nursing shouldn't really care about whether or not you have experience. They just want to be sure you have passed NCLEX and have a valid license when you're applying to get their license by endorsement.

Thanks everyone. I have looked on the BON site for the state that I would like to have my license endorsed into, but still alittle confusing. I think I will just call and talk to someone in person. That way I can ask the specific questions that I have. Again---thanks.

I was initially licensed in California when I applied for licensure by endorsement in Texas. At that point in time, I had absolutely no working experience as a nurse since I had just been issued the California license.

The endorsement process was easy, straightforward, and certainly not dependent upon years of work experience. Nowhere on the paperwork was I asked about how much experience I had or whether I had worked as a nurse.
