If you're already in your nursing courses, how many times/tries did it take you to get in?

For me it took only one try. I apllied to an LPN school and an ADN school. My think at the time was if I didn't get into one I'd have the other to fall back on. Well as it turned out I made it into both schools so I took my first pick. I am going into my second year of a 5 semester ADNprogram.

I asked this question a couple of months ago and it seemed like the only people who responded were the ones who got in on the first try. I know that there were a lot more who didn't get in on the first try but you couldn't tell from the responses. Hopefully those who had to try to apply to nursing school more than once will reply this time.

You might want to change the titled of your post then. Although I was accepted right away. I didn't begin for an additional year due to pre-reqs that I had to finish. I wonder how many people had that situation?

I applied to the university (didn't want to go the Associate's route) and they base entrance on our gpa in all pre-req's. Since I have a 4.0 it was pretty easy for me!

Two applications to LPN school for two different facilities.

The first one i was 1 of 500 ppl (no joke) competing for 40 seats in an LPN program.

Up here i was 1 of 90 ppl competing for 30 seats in an LPN program.

For the second try, i didn't get accepted the first time around. When i saw the list printout for the NET test, i'd missed the cut by ONE person. When someone dropped out the very next day after getting the acceptance letter, i got a phone call asking if i was interested.

Well, you have "Lucky duck, I got in off a waitlist". Not sure how lucky that is. I had to wait over a year from the time I FINISHED my prereqs to get in. But, I still prefer this method to the competition method. I am too old, too many kids, to pull the superwoman routine any more.

Got in on my 2nd try; after retaking my PSB-NAT and finishing all my prereqs. My school goes by point system based on GPA & PSB-NAT scores; we had 406 applicants for Fall term; only 144 (120 in day classes and 24 in the evening/weekend group) were accepted. Total Points ranged from 247 to 176.
