BSN or Health education

I have recently completed my ADN RN and am looking to go back to school next fall. I am very interested in Public Health, but most degrees are MS.

Which is better, do a BSN degree or a BS in health education?

I actually did it the other way. My first BS was in Community Health Education. I did my internship at a pharm. company and hated it. I decided during that last semester that I was going to go back to school for nursing, so I did an accelerated BSN program and I'm really happy I did.

Health Educators are the first to be cut when companies begin to downsize, while nurses will always be needed. But the two combined might be worth it, but to succeed in CH you need to be CHES certified.

My guess would be BSN. Public Health departments looking for nurses are going to take nurses with BSNs, in fact some require it.

Good luck!
