  1. Goodmorning all,I have been researching older posts about FNP programs online. I will complete my BSN next March but am already looking ahead as I would like to go straight into an FNP program. I find that online learning suits me best but at the same time don't want to pay extortionate amounts for my education. basically I am looking for quality at a good price.thank you so much.
  2. Hi there, Yes,i am still working as a TB nurse and am loving it! My day to day is always different I work from 8.30 to 4.30. The way our clinic is set up, each nurse is assigned her own patients. We do case management activities and are involved with contact investigations. The patients that come to the clinic. Are either newly diagnosed with TB or Latent TB. With TB patients we do bood draws an sputum testing, and general assessments. We also see a lot of clearance patients fromimmigration or shelters. There is lots of paperwork but if you are organized it helps. TB is a very interesting disease , there is so much to learn. Good luck and let me know if you need any more info.
  3. Hi all, I work as a public health nurse/ case manager in TB control and would love to share information with other PHN's in this exciting field. Thks
  4. I actually entered public health with an ADN degree - This was the only job offer I got, after applying to many hospitals. I am very happy with my job and actually really enjoy being a PHN.
  5. I guess my link did not work - do a google search for NYC Dept of Health and check their job postings.
  6. http://sh.webhire.com/servlet/av/search Check out this link for NYC Dept of Health postings Good luck!
  7. I make the same ($32.50) working in public health - we need more nurses in PH, its my first nursing job as I could not find anything else. I am learning a lot though and its very interesting.
  8. Hi there, I just started my first nursing job as a junior PHN at my local health department. I only have an ADN in nursing and am looking to continue my education. Should I get a BSN first or shall I go for a BS in Public Health? What about a certificate in public health? Any advice welcome! By the way I prefer online courses as well. Many thanks!
  9. I am a recent ADN RN grad and would like to know if I can continue my nursing education in the UK, and then get the UK license. I have a European passport and have previously lived in the UK. Any info would be helpful. Thanks very much.
  10. To SueNYC, I am in the same boat as you - graduated May 2008 with an ADN, NCLEX in August and only had 1 interview so far. I have send my resume pretty much everywhere and nothing.. It is very frustrating!
  11. I miss a proper cup of tea and a good fry up! lol - very unhealthy but what can I say. Lots of curry in NYC though!
  12. Hi All, I am thinking of attending the open house on Feb 3 - I currently live in NYC but the job situation is really bad. Does anyone know if they interview during the open house at all? Any other advice welcome - thks
  13. I am in the same boat too! Also looking into relocation to get that years worth of valuable experience. Good luck!
  14. I am a new ADN grad and have not been able to find any jobs in NY - I posted my resume online and got a call from a recruiter offering me a position at Valley Region Hospital. Can anyone tell me how bad this hospital is? How do they treat new grads? Many thanks
  15. I used to live in the UK for almost 10 years before moving to the US and strange as it sounds I miss certain things about it. Thanks for the NMC website - I will have a look. Actually I think its the same here, I have been looking for a while now and still nothing, no interviews, call backs - its quite depressing really.
