Acidosis/Alkalosis Tic tac toe board?

I have been searching these threads for two hours looking for a little chart that was like a tic tac toe board- it made acidosis/alkalosis look so easy and now I just can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know this method and if so can you explain it out please? We are revisiting this and I have to nail it once and for all.

Many thanks!!

It's not so much a tic-tac-toe board as it is a simple way to chart it...

RESP META

ACID pCO2 up HCO3 down

pH down pH down

ALK pCO2 down HCO3 up

pH up pH up

Just remember ROME (respiratory opposite, metabolic equal). When pH and pCO2 are inversed, then it's respiratory in nature, when the pH and HCO3 are both up/down, then it's metabolic in nature.

Thanks Woody and Daytonite- I appreciate it. It isn't quite what I am looking for but will do in a snap!

Daytonite- I love all the links you posted there and have used it extensively. Unforunately the more in depth I get into it, the more confused I get with it all! I have made a promise to myself to learn this inside and out. If I want to be a CRNA someday then I had better get it together because this is the easy stuff!

The instructor sprung this on us yesterday. Funny, I almost bought the Fluid & electrolyte book last week, but was having problems using a coupon on the bookseller website and still haven't ordered it.

Thanks again for your help Woody and Daytonite.

Duplicate posting -- sorry!!

T Funny, I almost bought the Fluid & electrolyte book last week, but was having problems using a coupon on the bookseller website and still haven't ordered it.

I didn't have the answer you were looking for, but was checking to see if there was info I could use, lol...

As an aside to your "coupon" issue, if you have a Borders store near you, be sure to join their Borders Rewards Club....they just ask for an e-mail address and will send you coupons in your e-mail every couple of weeks for books....these have varied from 20 - 30% off and are a HUGE help when I want or need a book quickly!! I love this program and don't have to wait for something to be shipped!!

WDWPixie- Thank you! I LOVE Borders and have a membership! It's 40 min away but I go there often as we just don't have big bookstores here at all. Heck there is none now that I think of it- closest one would be Borders as the discount one about 20 min away just closed. How awful is that!? I live in a town with NO bookstore!! Oh wait- the local card shop has a book section, but it's small. You can tell academics and education are not so coveted here, lol!

Besides Borders, there is the Barnes & Noble and they send coupons too and have a club, which I think I paid for but have got my $ back already. 10% off each purchase and 30-40% off bestsellers, and coupons in your inbox all the time.

I think I am addicted to Amazon and half.com! They get more of my money than any other place and I go and wishlist books and keep checking back to see when the price has dropped! I love half's wish list update- you can set parameters and it will tell you when a book is avail., dropped to a certain price, etc.

I also save a ton of money by buying books in the second to latest edtion or sometimes even earlier. I get my textbooks new, but any other book I want I will do it this way. I just got an assessment book for 2.00 this way and a care plan book for under 5.00 and use them constantly!
