I passed the nclex about a month ago. I have applied to every hospital possible and no response (except a few rejection emails). This week I'm taking BSL, ACLS, and PALS courses to make my application and resume look better. I know I'm being impatient but I owe money to my family, a couple friends, and I am death broke... I feel so rejected by the medical society! Why is it so hard for them to give opportunities to new grads

Cast a wider net. LTC, dialysis, MD offices, clinics, home care.

A month is an awfully short period of time and if you're limiting yourself to hospitals you've already found out there is NO nursing shortage (of new grads) anyway. You might need to relocate if you really will only consider a hospital.

What city are you applying in? The amount of opportunities in Florida varies widely.

I was gonna say, there are tons of new grad opportunities in Florida. You may just need to move to get one.

Broward county

If you can't relocate to let's say Fort Myers or Naples for better pay, then try nursing homes or rehab facilities. Also there is a hospital in Port Charlotte that even takes LPN on their Med surg floor so you should have a chance. Over here in Lee county home health agencies that work with children are always hiring new nurses, you get trach and vent experience.

2.5 months...yes extruciating wait. I have family of 4 was only hope for income, we almost got our house forclosed during that time but then offers started coming in. Apply to more hospitals include other counties. I currently drive 1.5hrs to work for way better pay than my local hospitals now they all want to hire me. Dont worry once you get that first year or two in opportunities will pour like rain

I got offered a job, the 1st one I applied to, about 45 min. outside of Orlando & I'm coming from out of state. It can be done. Just not in S FL.

Where do you live? Bethesda hospital has their new grad program starting in July and also JFK

There are a lot of opportunities in Central Florida hospital wise.

I already accepted a PCU position at one of the hospitals and I don't graduate until next week.

I dont know if relocating closer to Central Fl is doable or not, but it's something to consider :)
