Procedure on L5 disc replacement surgery.

So like I was saying I'm pretty nervous about having it done. And all I've herd is horror stories about it. One of the things that I herd is from my nipples to my kneecaps will be exposed during surgery. Is this true? And I was also wondering if I can request for my catheter to be put in wile I'm awake. I was told I can't make that request and they put it in wile I'm out. If anyone can give me any info about the surgery I'll really appreciate it. Thanks for everybody's time.

Bob, these are not questions we can properly answer here. You have to discuss this with your surgeon and his or her team. Get a second opinion from another equally trained physician, but it can't come from this forum.

No, we can't. Procedures differ from one facility or surgeon to another.

You can can only get accurate answers from your surgeon.

Welcome, Bobmichael to AN.com.

The members are all correct- it is not our place to give out medical advice for a variety of reasons which are in the best interest of everyone.

However, we can assist you in dealing with your fears. Roser13 gave you excellent advice in referring you back to your surgeon for any specifics you may need to know. The surgeon has been through this procedure countless times and has probably answered just about every question there is. Remember: the only dumb question is the one not asked.

I sense, however, one of your greatest fears about this situation is "from my nipples to my kneecaps will be exposed during surgery".

Know that everyone involved in the surgery are trained professionals and have their focus on the goal: A successful surgery with the optimal results possible.

The very best to you, Bobmichael!

As mentioned in previous posts as per the Terms of Service of the site we can't offer medical advice. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
