Hi All,
I just wanted to post something positive today. I have been working on a Tele floor for about 6 months now and I finally feel like I am doing ok and not just surviving the zombie apocalypse. It was a really hard adjustment, going to a floor with extremely ill patients at a usually 6 to 1 ratio, but I am starting to feel comfortable.
I wanted to post this because I felt like complete garbage after every shift for quit some time but I am starting to actually enjoy some aspects of the job now. If you are feeling crummy after changing your setting, hang in there and know it slowly starts to get better.
My best piece of advice: Stop expecting perfection from yourself at every turn, learn from your mistakes, and improve yourself each shift.
Hope this helps you, if you are struggling to adjust to something new in your career.

Congrats! Telemetry is a great skill to have. I did not find it easy to interpret all the arrhythmias and learn their treatment.
Now when you float to a unit without monitors, you will feel like you are nursing in the dark :)

Congrats on settling in! It really is a long process. Telemetry is where I started and there is a steep learning curve for sure! Thanks for injecting some positivity into all of these "nursing is the worst" posts that seem to keep multiplying!
Thank you both. Tele has a wealth of learning experiences, I am happy that I stuck with it!

Thank you for the positive post! As a nursing student about a month away from graduating, I am so looking forward to all the learning experiences to come and to the day when I realize I am starting to feel comfortable as a nurse.
You will get there, it take time. It took me a few years to feel comfortable with just nursing in general. :-)
