wrongful termination union no help

I was employed at a nursing home for 2 yrs I got fired over the phone because I made a comment on my charger nurse page that had got fired not pertaining to anyone directly but they said I made a threat I Don't have no writeups for patient care, work performance attendance nothing can I file a suit against them.

Can I file a wrongful termination suit against my former employer for terminating for something I commented on another nurse fb page not having anything to do with my job

Welcome to Allnurses.com!

Of course you can file a lawsuit. I assume you are in the United States, where anyone can sue for anything.

However, just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should. You'll become an untouchable pariah in your local job market once future employers catch wind that you've sued another entity.

For wrongful termination
First as per the Terms of Service members may NOT ask for or give legal advice.

Unless you were under a union contract, and depending on your state....an employer can fire you for just about anything they wish.

Many facilities have social media policies in the employee handbook which includes posting to FB ANYTHING work related.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this...but it is a valuable lesson learned.

Contrary to popular belief, employers do not need a reason to fire their employees. They can fire you for any reason or for no reason at all, save for a select few (race, gender, pregnancy status, disability) prohibited by law. You can certainly be fired for something you posted on Facebook.
