Would you do it again?

I was reading on another website that 60% of doctors (that applied to a small survery) would not become doctors again, 30% would, and 10% would pursue something else in the medical field.

I was wondering (for all Nurse Practitioners) would you do it again? If not why, what would you pursue? Would any of you become Doctors or a different type of NP? or perhaps just go about getting the degree a little differently?

I wouldn't do anything differently. I think if you go into a specialty or get an advanced degree based on what YOU want to do and not on the amount of money you'll be paid for doing it, then you will be happy.

Career choices made on salary are usually ones in which the person burns out quickly and is happy. There are few cases where someone goes in for the money and they're actually happy with their choice.

this is only my opinion of course.

FNP here: Probably would do the FNP route again without a doubt but I don't know if I would choose the same program.

Probably would have gone the ACNP route quicker if the program would have been offered sooner / closer....

Wish there was a trauma specialty but on the bright side of things the ACNP program I am looking at is pretty certain they can get me in with their trauma services for some clinicals.

Trauma medicine would take me back to my roots :-)

But definitely the FNP route first though…..
