Would you recommend

Not having been a paramedic but an LPN who completed EC's program (ASN & BSN), my answer is YES! In a heartbeat!!

Thank you so much for your response! That really puts my mind at ease. I was beginning to get worried after reading a lot of negative reviews but I think they were written by people were disgruntled at their own personal experiences.

Pixie.RN is who you would get your best input from as for a paramedic perspective. She's one of the moderators here who accomplished what you're planning, as well as being in the military.

But yes, the negative reviews are alive and well, as they are with anything. Your experience with EC will be what you make it to be. It is a very doable program, but it is not easy by any means. But, I've never found nursing school to be easy. If you are truly motivated and dedicated to succeeding, you will.

As a current Paramedic finishing up my last three theory exams at excelsior , if i had to do it again would I???? Absolutely. I took online classes for my pre-req's and have been testing out of all the nursing classes. I only wish i did it sooner!!!!!

I loved Excelsior so much that I am staying for my BSN. I too was a medic. It's a great school if you're self-motivated and great for those of us who didn't really have other options. I'm a military spouse, so I needed the portability of not being tied to one location to complete the program.

Another medic here, currently attending EC, with 4 nursing theory exams left to go. I would definitely recommend it for people who are self motivated. I have been taking an exam around every 2 weeks while also working, overtime, and 2 small kids. It was simply the only option I had due to the need to work a lot (like every other paramedic). I have a Bachelors from a brick and mortar university, and I strongly prefer EC over the state university I went too. The staff is really responsive with any questions or issues, and although I feel I researched the program well prior to enrolling, there have been zero surprises or smoke in mirrors. Well I've rambled so much I don't even know if I at any point answered your question lol.

Thanks for your response! I will be retesting 3 NRP stations this month and I am planning on enrolling immediately in EC's RN program.
