Would it be to late?

Ruth- lots and lots of students pursue nursing in their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. I have graduated students in their 50s who got jobs right away.

I would HIGHLY recommend finding a nurse you know and asking them to help you decide on the right path, informing you on the quality of local schools and such.

IT. IS. NOT. TOO. LATE. I'm 25 and am currently finishing up my prereqs with my 45 year old mom lol. She has been a CNA, tech at a hospital, a police officer and CMA. Although she has 35 years of experience in the medical field there are still things she doesn't know. My mom and I both work full time however neither she nor I can quit our jobs for school. She seems to be stressed at times bc she has to figure out when to study. It takes her longer to read materials bc she takes intricate notes but that's simply bc she studies differently and has been out of school for a while. If you're still unsure then how about just starting off with one class to ease yourself back into the school setting. My mom is extremely determined and sometimes more motivated than me lol. I think it's also important to have a great support system. I know you have your husband but maybe when you start school you can find a study partner or go on youtube and subscribe to Nurse Bass, RegisteredNurseRN, Allnurses.com, etc. There are so many motivational people there; although they don't know you personally they give great advice, can answer questions and give great nursing school tips. No, not at all. One of my classmates was in her mid-fifties when she started the program. Totally awesome to have her with us and she has gone on to get a really cool job since graduation. (Which she got in part because of previous professional and life experience she could bring to the job).

Look at it this way, you'll be 45 eventually either way, so what do you want to be doing when you reach that age? Working as an RN or something else?

I graduated at 23, and after posting pics online I got several comments about how I looked like one of the youngest in my class. I had MANY classmates in 30s-40s, even a couple in their 50s; they were 2nd career learners and former stay-at-home moms who decided it was their turn to go back to school. :)

I also wanted to suggest that you volunteer at a hospital. I'm thinking about doing that while I finish my prereqs. That could really get you excited/motivated. Just a suggestion lol

Thank you so much for the advice!! Actually this is going to be my second carrer! I have a bachelor degree with a mayor in music an I graduated with honnors , plus I had to learn English as a second lenguage ! Now I completelly felt in love with science and I can't stop when it comes to learn A and P. Once againg thank you for your comments because for one miment I thought would be to late to start all over!!!

When I'll be in my 45 I wanna be helfull for somebody I wanna feel that with my knowledge I could make diference in people's life and of course I wanna feel like I still have a bunch of things to learn and I will be learning and gaining experience .

I had a baby (had a 10 year old already) at 35 started my pre reqs at 37 and started nursing school at 39 this semester. It can be done there are at least 5 ladies who are 5-10 years older than me in class. Age is just a number, you can do it!
