UTA Online BSN 2019 Spring
Hey y'all, quick question. Has anyone taken Pharm with Intro to Nursing? Would it be tough or feasible? Also, has anyone had Cynthia Koomey for Pharm? If so how is she? Can't find any info on rate my prof (kinda scared). í ½í¸¨

Is Getting a BSN Worth It?
I think I'm concerned about either reading too much into their comments or simply taking them to heart. Their comments sort of linger and make me doubt myself and my choice to return to school. Financially I'm paying on some student loans while paying for the remainder of my prereqs out of pocket. I've excelled in most of the prereq courses and am taking my TEAS this summer. I've looked into a few programs that I'd like to apply to and I'll most likely be using student loans and paying out of pocket for whichever program I choose. The program I really want to do is accelerated and I'm scared that I'm going to have a hard time with courses since its at a faster rate.I guess I just want to know is it worth it to go through the entire undergraduate process again? Should I get an ADN instead?

Is Getting a BSN Worth It?
Just need some insight on this. I received my B.A. in 2016 and started my prereqs for nursing in the summer of 2017. I couldn't find a job in my field for an entire year which made me so depressed and gave me time to think about my options. I didn't want to go right back to school since I'd just graduated and I didn't want to start over. Now, I'm excited for nursing school! I was originally a pre-nursing major but decided to switch to public relations because I loved it and thought I wasn't smart enough to be a nurse. Now I feel so motivated to become a nurse and do something I really love. I also love the fact that there will be more job security in nursing than working in communications. When I tell people that I'm going back to school they say I've wasted my time and money on my first bachelors. They also tend to say that I haven't given time to explore the options of my current degree. It just makes me think, " Am I wasting my time by going back to nursing school? Can I really do this? Should I wait?" This may be silly but when people tell me things about returning to school I just don't know how to take it. What do you think?

Am I too old to start?
Not at all!!!!! It's hard to balance life, work and school but it's possible. My mom is 45 and I'm 26. Both she and I are finishing up our pre-nursing courses this summer and hoping to start nursing school in the fall. It'll take a ton of work but I think all of us can do it! Good Luck!!

A&P 2 Disaster!!!!
Lol yes, I used crash course to review before A&P2. It helped but my professor was just doing the most that I couldn't keep up. I officially dropped this morning. I was just way too stressed and felt ill prepared. Thank all of y'all for the advice and help. I'm going to tackle A&P2 in fall.

A&P 2 Disaster!!!!
Yea I was going to take it this summer but I'm already taking 3 classes this summer and I work full time. I think I'm just going to take it for fall. That will just have to be my only class.

A&P 2 Disaster!!!!
I always use RMP. I was originally registered to take my previous prof for A&P 2 but her course was removed and I had to slim pickings on other profs to pick. He had an okay score that's why I chose to take him. I can see if the other prof is teaching it in fall but I know she's not for summer. I think I'm just going to drop it and save my gpa. That seems like the best choice.

A&P 2 Disaster!!!!
I took A&P 1 online last summer great prof no problem understood the material well got an A. This professor is just so unorganized that my notes and thoughts are all unorganized. The drop deadline is next week hence my huge dilemma. The professor provides YouTube videos that he made, book excerpts that he's written plus his PowerPoints. He creates the study material the tells us to pay attention to one portion and not the other. It's hard to gauge where he says pulling the info from. We have a personal tutor but he is just like my prof very scattered explanations and rambles off. I think I just need to drop and take it next semester. I just want to do well and know what the heck I'm doing; I'm not sure what else to do at this point.

A&P 2 Disaster!!!!
I'm currently struggling in A&P2. My prof is so knowledgeable about the subject that he just hops around a ton during lecture. We only have exams as our grades, we just received our first exam back today. He had to give a 25 pt curve The class only meets 1 day a week and the rest is basically self teaching online (hybrid class). I'm also taking Micro which I'm doing ok in. I don't want to fail both classes. Should I drop A&P then take it in the summer or in fall as a regular everyday class?

Would it be to late?
*Sorry about the typo, 25 years lol I also wanted to suggest that you volunteer at a hospital. I'm thinking about doing that while I finish my prereqs. That could really get you excited/motivated. Just a suggestion lol

Would it be to late?
IT. IS. NOT. TOO. LATE. I'm 25 and am currently finishing up my prereqs with my 45 year old mom lol. She has been a CNA, tech at a hospital, a police officer and CMA. Although she has 35 years of experience in the medical field there are still things she doesn't know. My mom and I both work full time however neither she nor I can quit our jobs for school. She seems to be stressed at times bc she has to figure out when to study. It takes her longer to read materials bc she takes intricate notes but that's simply bc she studies differently and has been out of school for a while. If you're still unsure then how about just starting off with one class to ease yourself back into the school setting. My mom is extremely determined and sometimes more motivated than me lol. I think it's also important to have a great support system. I know you have your husband but maybe when you start school you can find a study partner or go on youtube and subscribe to Nurse Bass, RegisteredNurseRN, Allnurses.com, etc. There are so many motivational people there; although they don't know you personally they give great advice, can answer questions and give great nursing school tips. I hope everything works out for you and I hope this helped!

UTA AO Questions & Concerns
I personally think it's just as competitive as any other AO program just maybe a bit more because UTA happens to be the most reasonably cost efficient one. Plus, they have one of the highest percentages of their students passing the NCLEX post graduation. As far as the numerous calls I'm thinking thats exactly what they want is for you to take your prereqs there. I've literally taken about 70% of my prereqs and they just asked me today if I'd be open to taking the remainder there at UTA. I told them no I'm fine at Lone Star College bc it's financially efficient for me and I'm able to save money for the program. You just have to be firm and let them know where you stand. I also have emailed the nursing advisor to complete the 3 pre-nursing courses at Lone Star College. So don't let them tell you that you have to take it at UTA bc you don't. I also think the numerous phone calls depend on what information or questions you asked. When I called Last summer they were supposed to contact me a number of times and never did. I ultimately had to reach out to them. Same thing with my best friend, she applied to the program a year ago and they just called her back a month ago letting her know she'd been accepted. She's almost done with the program that she's in at Ft. Worth lol. As far as being denied, you won't know until you try, right? I thought the same thing "oh my GPA isn't great from my last degree" but the GPA for my prereqs are pretty good. Talk to an enrollment specialist again, if they tell you they aren't sure then just go ahead and send your transcripts then apply to UTA. I applied Dec 6th and Got accepted on Dec 10th. After I take my TEAS and finish my prereqs then I can apply to the AO program; it's a 2-step process. In my opinion they count on many prospective students not completing the paperwork and application because it's a lot of steps. Just take a Saturday and make a list of everything and get it done. I hope this helps you somewhat!

Need advice on Accelerated vs Traditional Program
I don't think I'd be worried about doing my school work at work, I'd be more concerned about the experience. At my current job as an admin I have the luxury of studying or reading at work but my days start at 4am and "end" at 4pm. As soon as I get home I have to hop on the rest of my homework. At least with a job as a PCT I could work maybe 3 night shifts and have the days to sleep & study, right? I mean I know that's in a perfect world but is a schedule like that real? lol
