? Needle stuck? Thursday I noticed around past noon that top of the left mid finger just above the nail was reddened, little swollen, small area that looked like area may have been stucked with small needle. Don't remember particularly having accidental needle prick, don't remember bleeding. I always wear gloves when giving meds and I always wash wash my hands after giving SQ meds.
Pt's given shots in AM:
insulin - hx HIV+ on meds
Cd4 400+
lovenox - hx dementia
lovenox - hx pancreatitis
heparin -hx afib
I did not report incident as I was not sure if I actually had a needlestick injury. But I am now worried. What if it was from the needle that I gave insulin SQ to the pt who is HIV positive?
I hope to hear your thoughts about this.

I wouldn't worry about it- at all.

Do you remember a sharp object going into your finger? If no don't worry. I don't know how you wouldn't remember it.

Although we can not offer medical advice I would suggest talking to either your pcp or Occupational Health team and see what they have to say

D you think your patient noticed when he was stuck with the insulin syringe? What about your patient with the Lovenox- do you think he noticed that? If you got stuck you would have noticed.

I would suggest doing more reading about BLOODBORNE pathogens and transmission of HIV.
