Working during CRNA School

I am currently an NP thinking about applying to CRNA school. Any of you guys have or know of SRNAs working while in the program? I understand FT is not possible, but how about 2 10s or 2 12s a week or even 1 12 hr shift a week? I am speaking for both 2 and 3 year programs. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

During the clinical phase, no. Maybe a weekend shift during didactic but don’t plan on it. You need to study on the weekends. It’s very different from NP programs.

Depends on the curriculum structure but more than likely you won't have time once didactic and/or clinicals kicks in. The amount of money you would make isn't worth the extra stress and the time you spend working may negatively your performance. Not that it can't be done, but the amount of information that is thrown at you at once, especially when didactic starts, is ginormous and you need all the extra time you can spare to study it all. There are some programs that don't allow you to work and others that "strongly discourage" working and for good reason.

I wouldn't plan on it.

Most programs (not all, but most) do not allow you to work at all when actively enrolled.

Honestly- depends on how smart/how good your memory is. If you are a genius with photographic memory- go for it. If you are like the majority of CRNA students: smart but need to study: don’t count on it.
