There has been a little off topic activity on another thread so I guess it's time for the 2015 work thread
Please introduce yourself, and post about your jobs for the year. Share opportunities, and network.
I'm Big Al. I am an LPN who has been working at a PA summer camp for the past four seasons. I am currently negotiating my contracts for 2015. My wife and I have a new baby so my usual summer job cannot house us. I am persuing other opportunities right now, and hope to sign a contract by next week.

I'm a year round RN at a semester school/camp in Maine. I've been here for a year, but I've been working at camps for several summers. I'm looking for additional nurses for the summer (June-Aug) and have a full time opening. PM me with questions!

Hi Big Al,
My camp has housing for families with small children, I can't PM as I have not had enough posts. Bummer.
I am Tina, I have worked at a summer camp I the Poconos for the past seven summers - eight this coming summer. I have been the Nurse Leader four of those summers. PM me if you are interested in summer camp nursing. We are always looking for enthusiastic nurses. We need full and part-time nurses. We have always had docs on camp all week, but this year they will be all Pedi-ER docs and not gynecologists or GI docs. I am super excited about that.

I am Melissa. My background is school nursing and general practice. This is my first year I have been able to accept a Camp Nurse position. I am taking my son with me and we will be in Pennsylvania for 7 weeks.

How did you get all peds-ER docs? That sounds like you won the lottery!!!
Our Pedi-ER doc recruited them - I don't know how. He can get a bit too advanced care for my taste though. I love my parent doctors, but at times they would 'phone a friend' and that could take a while for a decision.

I interviewed yesterday for a camp nurse position at a summer camp for adults and children with developmental/physical disabilities. I really liked the interviewer and from what I saw of the camp (we are still buried in snow up here) it looks like a beautiful facility. And it's only 1/2 hour or so from my house! It's an overnight camp with sessions running Tuesday-Sunday. I get every Monday off, a week off around July 4, and week off the first week in August.
I used to work sports camps as a student. then certified athletic trainer many moons ago, but I have never worked as a nurse. Should be interesting!
Well I guess it's official enough. I have landed a gig about 30 miles from my house, so I can commute. I will be a staff nurse at a summer program for talented youth hosted at a local collage by a large nationally know collage. It's more of a summer boarding school than camp, kids are in class for six hours a day. They live in the dorms, in three week sessions. It's quite a change from my previous expearence. It's hourly pay, and the rate is generous. It seems like a nice change, although it's toigh not going back to my normal summer job.
I bet it will be tough not returning to your old camp. I think I'll be making a change after the next 2 years and I wonder how that will feel. I'd like to see other areas besides the mountains of PA. Maybe out west somewhere. Possibilities are endless. Your new job sounds great!
Don't look to Texas - too hot and you are the only medical staff on site. That is why I choose East coast!

Hi, I'm a full time school nurse taking my first camp nursing assignment this summer. It's a 3 week stint in July in the mountains of North Carolina. My two kiddos are going with me for free and I'm still getting paid! Plus I love nothing more than the mountains. Needless to say, I'm so excited for this new experience!!
