work experience

Hello, I am curious.if it would be possible for me to work in Canada without any work experience.

I've checked out multiple websites, but I'm still a bit confused.

    I doubt it because experience isn't required to register with a province but this is what is said on NNAS website

    How many hours of nursing practice are required for registration?

    It varies according to each nursing group and province. The regulatory body determines the number of hours you require.

    Nursing practice hours = paid nursing work experience as a professional licensed nurse. School clinical hours are not nursing practice

    I've finally found the answer to my question.

    "Applicants are required to have worked a minimum of 1,125 hours of registered nursing practice in the past five (5) years or 450 hours of registered nursing practice in the previous 2 years. We do not require practice hours from applicants who have graduated from a basic nursing education program within the past four years."

    Does anybody know what is a basic nursing education program?

    Basic nursing program is usually a BSN generalist education with theory & clinical in adult/med-surg, obstetrics/maternity, geriatrics, pediatrics, and psych/mental health. As opposed to a specialist training such as psychiatric registered nurse or the UK adult RN/child RN/MH RN, ID RN/midwife specialist trained nurses

    A basic Nursing Program is a ADNU or a BSRN..? I mean wouldn't your experience pretty much dictate what your specialty is going to be after you graduate. Other than that it would be furthering your studies..to somthing more specific..??..hmm...

    Not exactly. In the UK nurses are specialty trained from day 1. An adult nurse does not cover a significant amount of OB, pedi or psych. A nurse midwife is the OB/woman's health specialist

    In the US & Canada nurses are generalist trained covering adult med/surg, pedi, psych, geriatric & OB in their basic nursing education.
