hello!
I am in Alberta and wondering if I would like to get back into nursing? I have no idea what nursing is like in Canada (from the UK) and was wondering if anyone knew if there was work experience where you see how things work? I am not sure if that is what it is called in Canada, but I would love to shadow people in different specialities and just see what it is like, if it is similar to England etc just to observe not doing anything as no license etc here. Just was wondering if any nurses have had people like this or high school students? Any input greatly appreciated thanks.

UK to Canada and now nursing
Although I work in LTC I do find some things different but then a lot of stuff is very similar. Thankfully blood glucose monitoring is same as the UK as are a lot of the blood values. I am fortunate to work with some great nurses who are willing to show me the Canadian way although I at times will compare things to how I did them in the UK.
thanks for replying! I remember chatting with you on the boards 5 years ago about the US! Hope you are enjoying Canada ;-)

Only thing I've seen in AHS is "take your kid to work day" and a summer programme for senior high school students.
Nothing really for adults.
thank you for your reply! :-)
