Withdrawal....?

ok so i am in southern california and right now it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get into an ADN program unless you have like a 4.0 right?

well some schools also look at retaking classes/withdrawals and they will negatively affect you.

well see i have a withdrawal but it was more of a mistake then a withdrawal

heres the story:

i had taken the first class of a bio major biology series at JC then i transferred to 4-yr university and have to finish the biology series (2 more classes because i was a bio major at a quarter system college) well they told me that i had to take the first of the biology series, well i thought i already started the first of the series at the JC, but maybe it transferred differently. So i started class at the university when i look at my transfer progress report and it says i repeated the first class of the biology series.

i was like wow i have been in class (i have already taken, no wonder it was boring and very familiar lol) for 2 weeks past the add/drop period so i knew i would have to take a W.

so now i am worried because i don't want it to reflect negatively to the NS's i want to apply for

anyone have advice or experience in this (or in applying to a so cal ADN schools

much appreciated!!

i live in the bay area too, i wanted to drop my anatomy class as i had a c in the class, the counselor told me i was better off with a C rather than a W on my transcript.

You probably are. Repeats in the science prereq's don't look good.

btw, where do you live in the bay area?

Across the bay, just outside of San Francisco.

We are talking about "W"s in prereq's, right? I live in the Bay Area and I don't know of any school that doesn't look at withdraws in the prereq's.

I live in the bay area as well and I haven't seen many schools deduct points b/c of withdrawals in pre-req courses. they will take away points if you repeat a pre-req class where you previously had a D/or a F.

Really? b/c I know a lot of people who would rather take the W and repeat a course instead of taking a C---that C would mess up your GPA.
