Will having one W affect my application to the nursing program?

I am a first year in college and I'm VERY concerned about a class that I'm dropping with a W which is Anatomy unfortunately. Unexpected event in my life prevented me from doing the best I couldve done in this class. I really want to retake it again because I do not think I deserve a C when life got in the way of my schooling. I know that I am capable of getting a A in the class now that I am in a better place in life.

This is just the one and ONLY W I have have throughout my schooling.

So I guess my question is,

Is it better to have one W on your application or a C?

My deadline to choose to drop or not is this Friday

    I doubt it will matter. I have a semester worth of Ws on my transcript because I had to take a medical leave of absence my sophomore year. It's been 15 years and no one has cared.

    You will have to retake it as the class is a requirement, so if you get a good grade the first "W" will be not important. I'm more concerned about your comment, "I don't think I deserve a C when life got in the way..."

    Are you scoring at a "C"? Then you'll get a "C". Are you expecting something different?

    My thoughts exactly. In nursing school there is no "life got in the way" excuses accepted. They have very strict rules for the minimal passing GPA and zero tolerance. So, yes redo the class but be sure to rearrange your thinking into nursing program mode.

    You ought to retake it. I agree with what other users said. That kind of thinking won't do you any good whatsoever in the nursing program. They don't care about what goes on in your life and why. I'm taking CNA classes. If a student missed one clinical day, he/she gets a U (Unsatisfactory). If a student missed 2 clinical days, he/she gets another U and he fails the class. And that's just ONE example of the many many reasons you can get a U. Doesn't matter if you get into an accident or your gramdmother just died. They don't care about any excuses.
