Right after i got out of juvinile I went to get my C.N.A license and that showed up and stopped me from getting my certificate. I live in the state of Florida and I was woundering I am now 19 I will be 20 next month I am going to college here and I want to get my pation care tech certificate I already did my backround check for the school to be excepted into the program and the felony did not show up but I need to know if when I take the State board for my C.N.A license will the fellony show up? and If so Can I still get my certificate by fighting the charge sence it was a juvinile offence?

Hi -

it violates our terms of service to give you any legal advice. All I can really say is to contact your court house to find out the ins and outs of what juvenile charges will remain in a background check.

moved to the nursing with criminal history forum

you need to declare your history and the florida state board will make their own assessment. failing to declare could cause more problems. this is what is stated on their website

the board of nursing makes decisions about licensure based upon a number of questions on the application and on an individual basis. the application (or the background screening) that indicates a criminal history is considered a non-routine application and must be reviewed by the board staff and possibly referred to the board of nursing for action.

If I am not mistaken, 2nd degree aggravated battery is a felony.

I am so sorry for you. Many have made immature decisions as juveniles that now follow into adulthood.

Here is your obstacle: They WILL ultimate search juvenile records. If you didn't declare, you would be denied based on that failure. Your second issue is the new change in FL law..... your felony must be 15 yr old or older or you cannot be considered for licensure.

Check the BON website.
