Who are they?

They go to work not knowing what to expect, just that someone depends on them for care and comfort, to take the pain and whatever ails them away.

They arrive and get report from the previous shift for a preview of what's in store even then it doesn't tell the whole story of what they may face during their shift.

They pass meds, start IV's, educate and advocate, clean up messes, turn patients, call doctors, chart and save a life in between, often without getting to pee or nourish themselves.

They don't get a holiday, the skills and knowledge they possess are too important to take a day off, although it is deserved and needed it still can't be done.

They often don't expect a thank-you for what they do, to them they are just doing what they are trained to do.

They are over worked and unpaid and often times not appreciated, but still continue to care because that's what they do.

They will treat thousands, impacting many over their career and not even realize it.

They don't have a glamorous profession, they have a respected profession.

They are a cool group consisting of 3 million or more members that make a difference in the lives of others when they clock in.

They are the heart of healthcare.

They are NURSES the humble profession that get it done!!!

Thanks for the comment, I really enjoy posting on here, if I have made just one nurse feel better after a bad shift, I have done my job.:)

To answer your question, I honestly couldn't do what a nurse has to do. I don't have the stomach for it, which is why I respect and admire them so much. They have done so much for me,I will be forever grateful for the profession, I think they rock!
