Which watch?

well last time i looked, i'm definitely female but don't wear 'feminine' watches. for reliability and cost, nothing beats a timex. right now i'm wearing a citizen because it's solar operation means i never need a battery. my husband paid a pretty penny for it but it's been perfect for 3 years now. i had the worst luck with seiko. btw, before i got this watch, i always looked for 'men/unisex' watches.

When you ask for a watch are you asking about a wrist watch or a fob watch? In the UK it is common infection control policy for all wrist watches to be removed (so that efficient hand and wrist washing takes place). This means that men (like myself) either wear fob watches (seiko make some nice 'un-feminine' ones) or we simply put our wrist watches in our pocket and take them out whenever needed. I have seen one male nurse use an old pocket watch, complete with chain... but to be honest he looked like a plonker!!!

That's an interesting point, UK2USA, when I lived in the UK, I only saw fobs, but then I only saw female nurses. Here in the US, I don't think I've ever seen one. Good question indeed.

So to expand the question, is a sweep second hand that important, or can I just get an analog watch with any old second hand?

Go with a Fossil. I beat the heck out of mine and it works great, not a scratch. They look great and last.

I am not sure if this model is still available, but there will be something like it.

You did say glow in the dark.....this has been one of the brightest watches I have owned for glow in the dark.

So, and especially the men, what do you wear for a watch? I've been keeping an eye out for a watch with a sweep second hand, and I'm not finding that many. I know that Jasco has a few, but, frankly, they don't look all that, you know, masculine.

When I started nursing school almost three years ago, I got a Skagen from Denmark watch. It is awesome and I rely on it everyday. Before I didn't wear watches a lot but now I'm never without this one.

My watch is a Wegner (Swiss army). I have beaten the hell out if it and never had a days trouble out of it. I can even wash it.
