I'm a BSN graduate in the Philippines. I took the licensure exam for nurses here in the philippines this June and I'm still waiting for the results. My dilemna is I don't know what state I'll apply for NCLEX. I already have the application forms for CA, Nevada and New York. I had my fingerprints taken for CA and Nevada already. I have relatives in CA and Nevada but most of the threads here are pointing to NY as initial licensure. I know that I can sit for NCLEX even if I don't have a SS number but the problem lies when I pass NCLEX. In CA and Nevada, they will not issue a license without a SS number but in NY, a hard license will be issued. Which state has the fastest processing time? Can I apply for NCLEX even if I'm not licensed in my country?

As long as you have a hard copy of your license in NY, you could apply for reciprocity to any state. You need to pass the local board exam because the ICHP will require your as for credential evaluation a certificate coming from PRC that you pass the local exam. I am did'n notice this the first time that is why I am forced to take my local board event hough I already passed my NCLEX. zuriel :)

ICHP has not required proof of licensure in your home country for licneusre in the US. There are many already here in the US that did not go that route and never had any problems.
Go the route of NY and then you can endorse.
Is this something that ICHP has expressly written to you or what an agency told you?
The only requirement in the past has been a completed set of transcripts for them to evaluate, and any previous licenses, but only if you have had them....

Thanks. :)
I think this license verification is part of the requirement for visa screen certificate. When I download the application form from ICHP website, 2 came out one for the school( for transcript & other stuffs) and the other one for the agency which issue you your license in our case PRC. They even emailed back an aknowledgement reciept that they receive the 2 forms. If this is new requirement, I don't know. I just follow what they ask.

That is only to be used if you have a license from your home country. The application is set up to print that with each application, but it is not a requirement.
Same thing as there are two applications for school..........how many students have attended two different nursing schools?
Having an initial license in your home country is not a requirement for licensure in the US, only that you have a completed set of transcripts and it has been accepted as meeting all of the hours required in the curriculum.
