Am a fairly new APN and been looking for a nice NP job. I finally was offered 2 positions and having a tough time deciding. The one is for a private MD who wants me for reducing admissions in a nursing home and for his office pending volume. He is very nice and easy to talk with. The other is working with a neurology group doing all inpatient care. Both offered pretty decent packages just so unsure which is the right one. Help!!!!!

I would prefer inpatient because it sounds like less scut work but having a easy to talk to/work with MD is a big plus.

Has the MD had an NP partner before? If not it may be a tough transition for a new grad, but if he/she treats you like a partner, that could also be a very good job.
The Urology group have other NPs? The only thing I would caution there is that sometimes speciality inpatient groups hire NPs to act like interns/residents and you end up actually doing more scut work than if you were an equal partner.

I would say go with your gut. Only you know what is going to make you happy. I personally would go with the Neurology group but it is really a personal preference and what kind of patient population you want to work with. Good luck and congrats on having two offers!!
