What are YOU expected to pay for???

Hello all,

I was wondering after having a terrible time with my current agency (plenty of surprises R/T housing) what is everyone else paying for? My agency expects me to pay the pet rent, a second parking space for my other car (travel w/hubby). When I got my apartment, and did the walk thru with the manager he said, "Oh, I see your furniture is here, but I don't see a TV like usual." My agency states they don't supply that, but for an extra charge they do. The manager also said he never has seen a travel nurse cough up the money for all the stuff my agency was nickel and diming for. My agency eventually agreed to pay this after making me feel like I was a drama queen. Heck, I already payed more than was being reinbursed for other expenses. They even tried to dupe my holiday pay, and not pay it saying it wasn't in the contract with the hospital, while the other staff nurses got the pay. I had to fight for that too. Anyone else feel nickel and dimed?

P.S. You would think with the nursing shortage, people would treat us better, esp. the ones that travel the country to fill in the gaps :heartbeat

I pay for my cable bill, the rest is from my agency. They do offer extras if I want to pay for them, i.e. housewares package and they will rent a TV for me if I want to pay for it. As far as parking, that is more then likely the apt. complexes rules.

Holiday pay should have been spelled out in your contract. A good rule of thumb is to make sure everything is spelled out in your contract. Don't sign it unless everything is in writing.

There is always a learning curve.

I pay for my pet rent and any pet deposit (though my agency will front the pet deposit and take it out over several checks), cable access, extra bedroom if I want more than one (but not if 2 bedroom is all that is available - then they pay). I carry my own tv (a nice little flat screen that weighs next to nothing).

Basically the agency pays for the necessities to live for one person, all other is my responsibility.

Wow what agency are you with and where is your assignment? I should go with them for my next assignment! I dont think I would want bed linens and dishes I would rather use my own but it sounds like all you really had to bring were clothes!

I am with Rapid Temps out of Albuquerque, New Mexico and I am from Colorado, but took an assignment in New Mexico for the nicer warmer winter weather.

I do not know if this is the normal for them as this is my first time traveling with them, but so far housing has been super great.

may i ask what agency you work with??!! :)

thanks
