I am pursuing a degree in nursing. I used to live in TX and am hoping to return to TX when my girls leave high school...about eight more years(Hey, I'm an early planner:)) Anyway, I am hoping to be an RN with five years' experience by the time I move back to TX and want to be in Salado to be exact....so I could work anywhere from Austin to Round Rock to Darnall to wherever. How much do experienced RNs make here? Also, as I will be an outsider, will that hurt me?TIA!

To be honest, Texas is such a big state and there are SOOOO many cities, from really really tiny to HUGE cities. So unfortunately I cant even begin to try and give you an "estimate" because it's just so vast depending on where and what you do. Sorry i wasnt much help!

Well, we usually don't let outsiders in BUT since you say you have lived here before... lol.
In my area (Houston), new grads make $24-26/hr. I make around $34/hr.

Could being from out of state hurt my chances of employment?

I'm on the same boat like you, I'm from out of state too, who just resided here Houston, TX. Just apply everywhere, make a good resume, have a good references. I got a call back today, but unfortunately it didn't sound so good. Just keep your finger cross!

I'm graduating from ACC's program in May. I feel very lucky, especially when St. David's said they have 2,000 new grad resumes to sift through.

I am making 24 an hour as a new grad in Temple. I don't think they care about where you're from. My coworkers are from all over the US, some come from even further.
