What would you do?

At the beginning of the month, I went in the my doctor to get my first Hep B vaccination that is required for nursing school. I left with them a form they had to fill out and send back to me.

Meanwhile, for the next week and a half or so I am freaking out thinking I am pregnant but the tests are negative!

I get the form back in the mail but they hadn't checked about me getting my Hep B vaccination so I call them. She says she will get my chart and check.

Next day nurse calls back and tells me I got a Depo Provera Shot.

WTF!?????????!!!?!?!?

She offered no explanatiions, just a weak apology and a new appt. for the Hep. B.

Well, since I had that shot I have had daily headaches, extreme hot flashes, moodiness and cramps. I thought they would taper off but they haven't and I am thinking this is gonna suck if these side effects continue for THREE FREAKING MONTHS. I already have hormone imbalances and to give me this shot was not a good idea.

What would you do?

Wow. I don't even know what to say. First thing that popped into my mind is LAWSUIT however. I cannot believe that that could happen. I am not practicing healthcare yet, so that is pretty scary.

Unfortunately, you probably will have to deal with the side effects for three months. I still am so dumbfounded I cannot even answer your question!!LOL!! I be in a rant for sure though!!! Let's see what those with experience have to say....:)

ANYTHING can happen! That is why it is important that nursing workloads be under very strict control, because when you get in a hurry is when mistakes get made.

As for the OP - I've never received Depo, so I don't know what to tell you. I believe that with many of these gradual-release shots, the symptoms you experience at first often subside after the first 1-2 weeks. I hope that is the case for you.

Damn straight I am thinking MAJOR LAWSUIT . The shot they gave you could have consqences for you if there already is hormonal problems. Talk to a lawyer now.
