I am in med surg 1 and our instructor, who was absent today, arranged for a cancer survivor to come in for us to assess and ask questions to today to go along with our cancer unit we are studying.
In class, several members were rude, not paying paying attention, etc. One member in particular, whom I have previously posted (griped? lol) about in other forums, kept asking questions... which would have been fine, but her questions were really story-telling exercises, instead of assessment questions for our patient. She made them about herself and frequently interrupted the patient to talk about what she thought or has experienced rather than what the patient was saying. It really bothered me, and I found myself wondering how this girl was ever going to be able to communicate with her patients if everything is always about her.
Am I off base here? This is the same girl who ALWAYS story-tells in class, but this time it was during "clinical" time and that bothered me. A lot. Would I be off base to drop a note to the professor? Is that to tattle-tell-y? My intention is not to tattle, but to inspire change so she stops making every class about her. Advice please!
