What to study if no Kaplan or Uworld

Published

Hey everyone, I take my NCLEX in two weeks and started studying regularly 2 weeks ago. I have been seeing people saying Kapan and Uworld are the two best sources for questions that resemble that of the NCLEX and basically can tell you if you will pass or not. However, I'm kind of broke don't want to spend anymore money on additional study material, and was wondering what other sources people have found helpful. My school made us use Lippincott's thePoint and i've been doing well there, yet I don't trust the difficulty of the questions. I also started doing questions from nurselabs.com can anyone tell me if these are any good? Thanks for the help!

I think I actually used nurselabs for some questions haha. I remember stumbling upon it, I wouldn't say their bad but I also would not use them as a primary source for studying. I know it sucks paying for all these courses and questions but then again the nclex is 360$ and I thought the same thing about Uworld before my exam (I'm broke and I cant afford anymore even though I know its good).

Now I'm retaking the Nclex AND I had to buy uworld.

You can purchase Nclex mastery for $10

I also used Passpoint and did not trust the difficulty level. I had a 7.5 mastery level on there. I felt UWorld was worth the money. They have a lot of SATA on there to practice with. I will tell you I feel they focus too much on content and make their questions ridiculously hard.

I passed in 75 questions and NCLEX is nothing like what any study guide can give you. You just need to keep doing questions. I did notice that after doing about 500 of the UWorld questions my scores went up dramatically because I was starting to learn how to read the questions. I was getting better at it.

I can't tell you what really helped me as I still don't recall what my NCLEX was about! I walked out feeling I failed. But I didn't.

Good Luck!!

I heard mixed reviews about nclex mastery as well I do the daily ones on fb but they are usually super easy so didn't know if it was worth it :/

Also, thanks everyone else for the feedback! Maybe i'll see if I can get some money together for Uworld!

I've used ThePoint's 10K RN trainer as well as uWorld. Both of them have their pluses. I find I've more customization of the question sets for ThePoint, yet uWorld questions are far harder most of the time. Both of them have good rationales; but if push came to shove, uWorld is better.

I did not have the money but I charged uworld on my credit card and it was one of the best chances I ever took in my life. I purchased it less than a week before my exam and spent hours a day on it maybe you and a former classmate can go half I also used picmonic. With the mastery app you get a few 100 questions for free.

Ok thanks again for the feedback, i'm talking to some friends now to split Uworld haha!

I did this with a friend as well! I have found it to be the best thing I've used so far but I test on Wednesday so we will see.

I as well had the same concerns with spending a lot of money on review materials....My last semester my school had us buy Lacharity book, I think it was like 40$? I could not honestly tell you 100% but I remember it was not too, too much. I did the entire first half of the book (not the case studies) and found it to be VITAL in learning how to answer prioritization and delegation questions... Seriously you could probs get it on amazon for really cheap, very worth it. I personally chose UWORLD and honestly would recommend it HIGHLY. It was 60$ for 30 days and it was worth every single penny considering without it I would not have passed (in my opinion) My test I took the questions were written exactly how UWORLD q's were, I was amazed plus it is all the same screens. I also had over 40 SATA and UWORLD had me practice SO many of them....

This response has gotten a little long, sorry lol- but paying the 60$ for UWORLD is very worth it- you can "try" their questions out before you buy, go check them out, you will see what I mean about how amazing their rationals are. I only studied UWORLD for about 2-3 weeks and did about 80 q's a day in mini tests of 20. BUT make sure you read every rational (thats were you learn so much) and understand it! :)

Trust me the NCLEX is very do-able if you do a little prep and your school has given you the tools you need! Know the very basic lab values (don't go totally crazy with them) and I think you will be all set honestly!! Best of luck to you, ill keep you in my thoughts!

So sweet thank you for all the well wishes and advice! :)

I found Kaplan and Saunders NCLEX study books at the public library. Although, as many users have already stated, Uworld is the bomb.
