What are registries paying LVN's in 2017

Published

I was an LVN for many years. I let my license lapse about 20 years ago. I am looking at taking a refresher course online, which includes hospital experience during the second half of the training. I am in my late 60's and in relative health, but I cannot do heavy work anymore. I used to work in pediatric in home care and enjoyed that a lot. Does anyone have any thoughts about the refresher course, being an LVN again at my age and what is the current pay for LVN's doing in home care in California? In addition, I might mention I was a caregiver to a family member who had very complex needs, for several years, so I am used to interfacing with many different agencies and disciplines. Thanks for any feedback.

As you probably know, the minimum wage is increasing to $15/hr in many areas, making that milestone on par with LVN pay in extended care home health. You can request the easier cases. Agencies typically state they will not be raising nurse pay to compensate.

That's ridiculous. Its more than I made my first LPN job, although that was almost 9 years ago. I only make a few dollars more than that now, but it looks like pay is starting to go up a lot of places and why I'm thinking of finding a new job.

I'm jot in cali anymore, but in the end of 2015, early 2016, I worked in home health and I got $18, experienced nurses made more and I think other agencies were paying around $21/$22? Peds I think are usually higher?

Thank-you all for your answers. That is really appalling! I thought it was much higher.

Hello,

I recently inquired about HH position in my area (Bay Area). They can start you off at $20/hr with willing to train. I have been an LVN for 12 years, worked at the clinic only and have no experience in HH.

Thank-you for the info., LaLaine1025
