What NCLEX-PN Study Guide/material did you use?
Was it effective for you? Why or why not?
There are dozens (or so it seems) of test prep materials out there. I'd like some feedback before I shell out the $$$$ for one or more.
All responses are appreciated.

I used NCLEX-PN Made Easy, Saunders NCLEX-PN Review, Lippincott's Review for NCLEX-PN, and ATI exams.

I used Saunders PN Review Book & CD and the NCSBN's self-paced online review course. That combined with what I learned in nursing school helped me pass. Good luck to you. I understand your question, there are so many options out there and you want to know exactly how to spend your money.

I used Saunders, Lippicott's, and Delmar's.
OK.... I appreciate the answers so far.
The common thread is Saunders, with a side order of Lippincott, seasoned with a little Delmar.
Can anyone tell me how effective these were for you, and more importantly, why???

The Saunders review books teach you the nursing content that you should have already learned while in nursing school. In my honest opinion, the Saunders questions are much easier than the actual NCLEX questions. However, you should do 100 to 150 questions daily on the Saunders CD-ROM because it will get you accustomed to sitting for an extended period of time in front of a computer answering questions (just as you'll do at a Pearson testing center).
I highly recommend Kaplan NCLEX-PN Strategies for the Practical Nursing Exam 2006-2007 Edition. This book contains effective strategies and fully lets you know what to expect before arriving at that testing center. It teaches you methods on eliminating answers that are obviously incorrect and instructs you on how to prioritize. In order to pass NCLEX, you're going to need to answer priority questions, and Saunders does not deal with priority questions very well.
Good luck!!! :)

I hate to say it but if I fail I will definitely purchase that book. I've heard a lot of good things about it (unfortunately I heard those good things AFTER purchasing four other books). I don't like having an attitude of possibly failing but after hearing how HARD the nclex is... I'm so scared.
Thanks for the advice, TC!
I have a while to go before the NCLEX, but the early bird munches down on the nightcrawlers, don'tcha know?:rotfl:

Kaplan RN, yes RN, and the http://www.ncsbn.org helped me pass the nclex - PN with 85 questions. Suanders is highly over-rated and didn't help. Mosby didn't help as well.
