I started with 3.67 gpa and now it's 2.8ish. I've been putting more time into working to help myself and not much focus for my classes. Now that I am almost done with my pre-reqs, I don't know whether I should waste my time applying to any CSU BSN programs and get rejected or... start off with the community, and go from there?
I also have other volunteering experiences, but not sure if that's good enough to help my low gpa.
I'm bummed. What shall I do next...

your pre-req gpa is a 2.8 or is that your overall? Did you apply to any of the CSUs for general admission by november 30? if not then you are not going to be able to apply to any of the BSN programs for fall 2010. Most of the CSUs require the Teas test--- how did you do on that?
I think applications for some of the community colleges (atleast the ones that I know of) have just started so you can definitely apply to those programs.

I'll be very honest with you the ADN programs at these community colleges are very competitive. If 2.8 is your overall GPA, it may be difficult to get in even at that level. And as far as the BSN programs, I think they are even tougher.
I'm not familiar with CSU, but you may want to find out their requirements, including their minimum GPA acceptance. Also look into any ADN program requirements in your area that interest you.

A lot of community colleges in my area (pretty much most of the schools in the Bay Area) actually do a lottery system, so you may want to apply to those programs get your ADN, get your RN, and then bridge to your BSN.
I am assuming you are in California right? I know there are a couple of community colleges (assuming u live in northern cal) - LMC, CCC, Chabot - that do lotteries so you might want to take your chance there.

You can also take courses at a community college in an effort to boost your gpa.
