What do you HATE to do at work?

I hate feeding people. Part of my job in LTC, but it takes sooooooo long to feed some of these folks. Also hate to give injections in some of these people. Another biggie....I hate answering the phone and replacing call offs.

Havent done this in a while...but also hate manual disimpactions..YUK!

Ok - this is pretty bad... I HATE taking vitals! I don't really understand why - they aren't hard, I'm not worried if they are abnormal.

I guess I just don't like the routine of it.... hmmmmm

I don't mind the "gross" stuff and I love a good goopy dressing change - but those vitals REALLY get to me!

Gee where to begin. suction is a top ten. Paper work, monthly summuries. i would just about work eight hours for someone else for free if they would just do them for me. Also have a young renal pt. that i st. cath. once in a while. You just have not lived till you have done that. Oh the smell. Makes me gag. Urine is dark brown looks like cho. milk but the odor. Oh man. I have a strong stom. too.:rotfl:

I can feel your pain. I work long term care too. Forgot about the phones that always ring during meal times. Just want to jerk it out of the wall.

I hate emptying the suction canisters into the toilet....it like goops out...yuck. And this may sound dumb, but I cant stand to do accuchecks. I hate punching all the numbers in, sticking the pt., then drawing up insulin and sticking the pt. again... Insulin drips are even worse!

Glurk, Glurk...splash....as you stretch your body as far from the toilet as you can....oh and what about the sprayer hoses in the bathrooms to wash bedpans and commodes....ok, i'll suffer through the commode duty...but HELL no on the bedpan blow-outs, always get tossed when i'm on duty:nono: nO no no WAY.

Handwashing TEDS covered in POO.....yeah, some nurses...NOT this one. New pair for you buddy. And NO, I don't consider this medical wastage.

Answering the phone !!! Hate it . We have a paragraph long greeting we are supposed to say( Hi thank you for calling blah blah blah where we go the extra mile for you . what can I help you with today ) everyone is po'd by the time I shut up ! Hate it.

hmm...anything that smells super rank. a little smelly, like a colostomy bag emptying i can do. i dont mind suctioning trach's/ET's. nasty wounds? heck i changed the dressing on an 18 inch by 12 inch open abdominal wound w/ pseduomonas infection yesterday (galbladder dehisence). i dont like hemoccult testing. just the idea of swabbing the turd thats in the bed pan/top hat/etc. yuck! nasty!

so yeah, hemoccults and super nasty smelling anything.

Anything psych........I just can't do that. Walking people to the bathroom, or in the hall.......so many things to do, and I'm thinking of all of them while s-l-o-w-l-y we w-a-l-k. Not sure why that irks me. Drunks are ok, as long as they are stupid drunk. Can't stand verbally abusive, aholes who don't know when to stop and end up getting leather restraints. Then everytime you have to go in the room, you get sworn at or spit at or told how stupid YOU are. (hey buddy....you're the one tied down.) Also people who think they are entitled to more than they deserve or earn. State welfare people who ask for tylenol rx's, so they don't have to pay for OTC tylenol. People who want a note for x many days off work, when they could probably go back to work in the next hour.

and accuchecks. I hate accuchecks :)

with the smelly stuff you just need to learn how to totally breath thru your mouth......need to do a total nasal bypass. then the smelly's won't get you.

Work myself to death while 2 or 3 people say they are busy (yet they're sitting on their *** watching other people work)
