Your screwed! (j/k) But seriously, I applied for licensure in another state recently and they asked if you had ever failed the NCLEXRN.

They use you as a colonoscopy practice dummy for residents. Then they hang you.

The bummer is you have to wait a few months before you can retake it again, and you have to pay all the money again. Otherwise nothing unless your employed as a GN in an internship then you will either get let go, or they might let you be a tech until you can retake it.

It depends on the BON for the state where you plan to work. I'm more familiar with the NCLEX-RN but as I understand it the process is very similar for both tests. Some states will allow you to retest rather quickly (I believe 45 days is the minimum but won't swear to it) while other states have longer waiting periods between attempts. Some states may require you to complete a refresher course of some sort if you don't pass in a certain number of attempts. Some states have limits on the number of attempts you get while others will let you test as often as you are willing to pay for the exam.
I suggest checking out the NCLEX forum here at allnurses for others going through the NCLEX, hitting up the BON website for wherever you plan to test to answer questions about their requirements and the Pearson Vue website for info on the exam. Between the three sites, you can learn pretty much anything you ever wanted to know about the NCLEX.
