Hello everyone,

Has anyone of you worked or is working as a Wellness Director. I have an interview for a Wellness director position and I would like to know more about it from people who actually work and find out what it entails.

Thank you so much

I only found out what a wellnes director was about 2 weeks ago. I am agency and went to a Nursing home. The LTC facility had a skilled nursing wing and an assisted living part to it. The wellnes director was the director of nursing for the assisted living, was an RN- the only RN for the assisted living - all 3 shifts were staffed by nursing assistants and LPN's, she was in street clothes, in her office, no hands on, all papework-state,medicare, medicaid regs and responsible for all the assisted living residents 24/7. Strickly managerial work. the LPN's role was to give regularly scheduled meds, documentation(which is how assisted living gets reimbursed like LTC) do monthly or weekly Vital signs and assist the physician during their visits- notify the doc of any concern with a resident. the residents of assisted living have to be of a high level of independence, with little supervision except for their medication administration. the aides assist with some toileting, dressing and checking on residents and supervised the meals in the dinning room. I saw alot of residents without walkers, some with canes. residents able to communicate their needs. That was the impression I got.
