  1. Kidneypreneur, thank you for your honest answer. Moving on is truly what I've been thinking of lately. The stress and constant aggravation is too much and I definitely do not want to put my license on the line like that.
  2. Thank you so much idodialysis for taking the time to help me and give me your thoughts. Expressing my concerns in writing is a good idea but I don't know if it's worth the fight. Everyone seems to know about what truly goes on but act like they don't really know. They all say to go 'be the change' when in reality it's almost impossible to do since there's so much to change. Thank you again!
  3. Hello experienced HD nurses, I've only been in dialysis for 6 months and the road has not been easy at all. I went to orientation and Nursing training classes and what's happening in my clinic is not what I learned in those classes. The patients and techs run the floor not the nurse. I attempted to put some order and organization in the clinic with lots of resistance from the staff. The techs stop talking to me if I ask them to do something or if I try to reinforce some safety policy and procedure. I respect their dialysis knowledge and experience but why do we operate outside the policies and procedures so much. Is it my clinic or is it the dialysis world in general? I've been very honest with my F.A about my concerns and states that she will support me 100% but she's hardly ever there as she's running more than one clinic. I'm not trying to be difficult but I can't work for a company or clinic where people do whatever they want and where I let the techs use my license to run the clinic. Please give me a little hope!!!!
  4. If you browse this site you will find pages and pages of answers to this question. 90% of this site is us complaining about our jobs and the things that drive us nuts. When I first started browsing this site I used to think that nurses are the unhappiest workers ever. But then I understand that we come here to vent and that we mostly hear of the bad days we've had more than the good days (I hope that is what it is anyway). I still have my doubts. I have been a nurse for almost 2 years now and I work on a med surg floor and they all seem to be pretty miserable. Now with that being said, if you really want to be motivated to do well in school and be excited about the wonderful world of nursing you might want to hear from those that are really happy about their jobs and what makes it all worth it. Sorry, I dont mean to change your subject but I think a little positivity goes a long way and more so because you are just starting. There are days when you will ask yourself "what were you thinking?' but remembering the 'good things about nursing will keep you going. Thanks and I hope that everything works well for you
  5. Hello everyone, Has anyone of you worked or is working as a Wellness Director. I have an interview for a Wellness director position and I would like to know more about it from people who actually work and find out what it entails. Thank you so much
  6. Hello, Yellow Finch....Which one of the wellstar hospitals do you work for? Do you know their starting salary for new grad? I was also wondering if all 5 of the hospitals have the same salary range. Anyway I am also a new grad RN and have been working for Wellstar at cobb for a number of years(not as a nurse). I know the starting salary for new grad at cobb and want to know if the starting salary is the same at Douglas or kennestone. I am still in the transition mode and have also been looking outside the system. Thank you:wink2:
