Are there any safe weight loss supplements for those of us being monitored out there? I feel like I just need a kickstart.

I doubt it. Honestly I have a head cold right now and I'm afraid to take anything for it. This seems cumbersome but if you got a prescription from your PCP with documentation that he knew you were in a monitoring program and had a medical need perhaps this would suffice. Good Luck!!!

i think you can get away with Contrave. It's a combo of naltrexone and buproprion. Neither are controlled substances, but it is highly unlikely to be covered on insurance. There is also Saxenda which is simply a very high dose of the diabetes drug Victoza. Ditto with the no insurance coverage and very expensive.
as far as OTC stuff, I would Honestly not take that risk.
Bah. I only need to lose 5-10 pounds. I'll just keep to calorie counting.
Ah, I thought you were meaning significant weight loss type of stuff.

There are a number of things you can take with your monitor's approval of course - It requires honest discourse with your dr though. I don't think I've used an antihistamine in years though Simply Saline does the trick for me.

Yeah I'd kill for an antihistamine right about now but it's not worth a trip to my pcp and documenting why I need otc meds for a head cold. It's sure not worth testing positive for something I was never addicted to or not using to get high. If I test positive I'd like to make it with my poison of choice in large quantities. Happy hours is a long way off should I make that choice
Since I've had to move a couple of times for jobs since this started (yeah, shocking, I know) I've also changed PCPs a few times. I don't think my current PCP even knows or cares about this. It's never come up in conversation and thus far there's been no reason for it to have.

My doctor doesn't know about it either. I remember when I first got into monitoring and the documentation stated I had to have all my doctors sign that I'm ok to work etc, I quit going to the doctor! A friend who had also been in TPAPN told me she cried like a baby when she had to go to her doctors and get the form signed. She was so humiliated. After about a year I had to go see a doctor for something, I don't even remember what it was. I finally realized there is no way TPAPN would ever find out I'd been to see my doctor, and even if I got a prescription, if it wasn't a narcotic, there was no way they'd ever know. So I eventually started going back to my doctors for routine check ups etc, and have never asked them to fill out the forms that TPAPN states we are supposed to submit. It's just ludicrous that I would have to tell my gynecologist about this! And I refuse to do it.
Right! They do not need to know when I get my lady parts check or my teeth cleaned. I am an adult and I will determine who needs to know.
AMEN to all of that. This is all about control issues and money. So long as we don't test positive for a banned substance what difference does it make what doctor we see, weather we go to 12 step meetings or choose to go to expensive witch doctor "rehab counselors" and their ilk. Those should be our choices and that's the difference between forced compliance and recovery to me. I've actually been reported by my "therapist" (who I guess I have not patient / therapist confidentiality with) to my counselor because I said that very thing in group. I'm now only supposed to share positive experiences about the program I guess. I spend quite a bit of quiet time in there because I got nothing good to say & very much doubt I will
