Weekends

Our nursed work every 4th weekend and only get a day back during the next week if they do at least 6 visits on both Sat and Sun. otherwise no day back which means they have to work 12 days in a row. What are other agencies doing about days back? Thanks

WOW! All i can say is that sucks!! We never have a "quota" to meet, on the weekends or during the week. I wouldn't like that at all!

That is ridiculous! We get the Thursday before and the Tuesday after off.

If things were slow for me and I didn't get my hours I would have the option to work on Tuesday.

Man! That's rough. I would look for another job..

We have 2 weekend RNs so we don't work the weekends:mad:...just take turns on overnight call, about every 6-7 weekends. The LPNs take turns working the weekend and they get Mon +/or Tues depending on if they are needed both days or not.

We are on about every 3rd weekend, alternating "working" and "on call". When we are "workers" we usually get a day off in the following week, (depending on how staffing is) usually we see 3-4 visits each day (Sat and Sun). When we are "on call" it is Friday to Sunday and we may or may not have an assignment then in addition get sent out if there is a call. We get some pay for being on call (between $2 and $5/hr). There are times I may get only 1 or 2 calls the whole weekend, or when I have to do 2-3 scheduled visits or admits and then get sent out extra. Then there are weekends like the one from He-- I had end of September where it seemed I was called out day and night all 3 days. We don't get the day off when we are "on call," but believe me I made sure I got one that time.., We also have to do 2 nights during the week on call a month.

This is one of the reasons I don't do visits. I don't work on weekends unless it is my choice.
