Oh goody, a beyond quintessential Florida day, with a temp of 98 degrees ('feels like" +8-12 degrees more !) and the humidity level of 94 %. Wonder if a thunderstorm will build and release some of these oppressive conditions? A good day to stay inside ... as long as the power grid holds, anyway.

The big question is, am I going to go out to get my driver's license today or hope for less strenuous weather tomorrow? I WANT to 'git'er-done', BUT.... !

Yah, so I went to the Tax office to get my FLA DL and I need a "certified birth certificate"... I have a very old one that has been certified but you can't read the imprint of the stamp very well because it is so old, so I guess I have to call the City/County.....or rather, get them online because they prolly don't do anything by phone these days. And I have my original SS card, AND the one I got after I was married. I have to get proof of Florida auto insurance, though I have the one from NC that hasn't expired yet (they don't do auto inspections down here); I already have proof of residence (2 required), and I have to have a certified copy of my marriage certificate, which I have requested but first I need to send them a copy of my NC driver's license with its photo ID, which I can get help doing at the library or Staples/FedEx/UPS to fax them that, then pay my $12. But I DO have my original car title, which is here somewhere in this pile of papers. I swear I can lose things when I am sitting still !I also have to have my "vehicle brought in" (to the office?!) for VIN verification [or complete form blah-blah-blah verified by Law Enforcement Or a Florida Notary] And I have to make an appt for/as a New Florida Resident. But the good news is I DID pass my vision test without my glasses. HAH! victory?

I am beat. We volunteered at the demo garden, and we spread mulch that I have been asking for since April. Between 5 of us, we spread 2 cubic yards around the rose garden that I maintain there. I came home coated in sweat and mulch dust. After a quick shower, I am ready for a nap! But youngest ds met me at the door requesting my help to fold and pack an abundance of clothes that he wants to donate. He is finally cleaning up his room and gaming area and I don't want to break his momentum. But first, a nap!

Stars, that sounds like what I had to go through to get my and dh's Medicare set up. Because I was doing his stuff, I need to prove who I was and that we were married. But this was during the pandemic and everything took longer and cost more. After I paid for a certified copy of our marriage certificate, it looked like just like the one I had.

Tweety, we haven't done anything as detailed as you have. Our kids are named as equal beneficiaries of our retirement accounts. The house is the only other thing of value we have. I suppose the kids would just sell it and split the money.

We've never lived in an air-conditioned house, even in Idaho, where it could reach 100 in the Summer. Everyone there just lived in their basement for the Summer. These days we just use lots of fans, and escape to the mall or a movie theater when it gets to be too much for the few days of the year when it gets to 90. All of the places I worked around here had air conditioning, but it was so uneven that some spaces were icy cold and some were roasting hot, and nothing was comfortable.

Hey, Stars, if you have access to Netflix now, did you know Outlander is on there? It seems like you were a fan of those books?

My other recommendations for Netflix include Call the Midwife, and Poldark, The Crown, and Victoria. I guess you could say I'm an Anglophile.

Right now, I'm watching Department Q. Its a gritty crime drama, set in Scotland.

I'm not much of an Anglophile for but I really liked Department Q on Netflix and The Night Manager on Prime.

I recall I was able to get my birth certificate from Texas relatively easy. I have two, this one and my original. Can't remember why I got the 2nd one but I think it was to get a passport.

If I were married with children, I probably wouldn't be so detailed with my affairs. But I figured no time like now to get my people on board with who gets what, have my cremation paid for, and what my wishes are and who my executor will be.

I don't remember getting my DL and car registered here to be a big deal. But that was 34 years ago. There was a huge fee I remember to all transplants that wound up being an illegal double tax and millions were refunded.

I am really hooked into Shetland big-time, but when it finally comes to the end, I'll tr y Dept Q and The Night Manager.

I spent the entire evening watching Shetland to erase the Disgusting Dastardly Day of Document Demands from my mind. Next thing ya know they'll be wanting a Blood Panel, a DNA Swab, a Urinary Specimen, and a Brain Scan!! Ppfftt! 😝
