Weber college

Happy New Year to everyone. I just wanted to say that I enjoy this site and the information is very useful. I am thinking about taking an online chem with lab course from Weber college. Anybody have experience with Weber?

Thanks

Maria

Just an FYI - Deaconess doesn't accept any credits from online classes that require a lab. I wanted to take A&P online and they told me it wouldn't transfer cause of the lab.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't know much about online classses, but Weber (pronounced weeber) State University (used to be Weber State College) is located in Ogden, Utah and has a pretty good reputation. They have a good nursing program...both 2 and 4 year. Many northern Utah college students attend Weber. I don't know of any other Weber College or University, but there could be. Hope this info is helpful;)

Yes, I think it's the same college. I wonder how Deaconess would know if a course was taken online or taken traditionally. Anybody know?

Deaconess accepts A & P I and II, Chemistry and Microbiology from other sources only if they have a lab component. Now you can take the above courses online but they will not count towards a Deaconess degree if they do not have the lab component. Having said that let me give you an other option that I am using through a local community college. I have enrolled in A & P II through the online class. The leture portion is online and the lab portion meets on campus every Saturday from 8-11. Hence I will have the lab requirement but I will only have to travel to the campus 1 time a week to meet that requirement.

If I had taken A & P II on campus I still would only have to meet for lab once a week. So for me it saves time traveling back and forth.

Check your local community colleges in your area. More and more are offering A & P this way. If your college doesn't you might want to suggest it to them.

Good luck to you,

Cathy

The chemistry courses at Weber do have an online lab component. Weber offers several chemistry courses with an online lab. I wonder if these courses would be acceptable.

Happy New Year!

So which is it?

The lab has to be taken on campus

Question,

If A&P I and II are 4 credit courses, where on a transcript is it indicated what type of learning environment the class was taken in?

Haven't seen that yet so I was just curious how other schools list it.

Tks

Opalm,

It's me. As long as the course has a lab component whether it be on site or on cd it should be acceptable. At least that's what they told me.

More info can be found at http://www.chemclassonline.com/

Keep in mind the Chem classes run about $800. But the do give you that lab credit. :)

I know this is an old thread, but for those of you who have experience with online chemistry at Weber how was it ? Thinking about taking the elementary organic class. Thanks
