WCCCD math competency...

I'm in my first semester at WCCCD... I start my second 7 1/2 weeks next week and I was wondering what you guys used to study for the math competency?? How was it?? Do we really need 100%?? I'm FREAKING out!

Also what do you guys think about taking Med/Surg or OB first?

Thanks in advance : )

So glad you made this thread. I've been freaking out about this since the day i got my acceptance letter. And what really worries me is that we only have TWO tries instead of THREE. Yikes!

Hello Im a recent Grad of May this year from WCCCD when I first started we only had to get a 90% as first year on the math competency and 100% second year. They must have recently changed it, I would say the BEST way to study is using you Med math book the exam WAS pretty straight foward just know the main conversions, drop factors and ML/Hr formulas.. I recommend taking Med/Surg first always because it can be pretty tough and its best to get that over with first in my opinion...

Congratulations on graduating! Sounds good knowing its doable because it seems impossible right now! Good luck on your job search! (if your not already working)

And thank you so much! Makes me feel a little better! So basically study the whole med math book....

Did you take Pharm over the summer or with Med Surg 2?

i would definately take meg surg first.

Thanks guys!

I wanted to know if the competency exams covers all the chapters in the entire Med Math book??

I'm a May grad as well. I don't remember exactly what was on the first math competency (PTSD I presume), but I do know that I reviewed the whole Med Math book and I passed, lol. Don't forget to review the ounce conversions for teaspoon, tablespoon, etc. Also be super careful on the I/O problems -- if they are just asking intake, then don't subtract out the outake!!
