So I applied to Ohio State for FNP. I was told my GPA was too low and I need to take the GRE. I don't really have time to prepare so I doubt I'll do well. Am I wasting my time and should give up? I can't raise my GPA. The past is the past.

You sound defeated and once you are at that point you have no chance! So if you want a chance Do NOT give up! Take the GRE after and only after you can do well on it ,then reapply. If you would like to be a nurse one day you must lose the defeatist attitude

If English is your first language and you did pretty well in math before and you can take two weeks off, you can prepare for GRE and get decent score. Math is easy, reading is not that bad as well. You only really need to dust these two off, write a dozen or so of essays to get a hand on them and temporarily cram into your memory these 1000 words, and I bet you know half of them already. This is it:)
Or, Ohio State is not the only one school in the US. Plus, you can really raise your GPA a bit even without doing hard sciences all over again. My classmates who needed that, did "study abroad" course which was nothing but an exotic vacation with slight addition of cultural nursing. Because they were doing that under "instructor" role, they paid less and got 6 to 8 credits with A. That was enough for some to move their GPA over the line.

If you don't have "time to prepare" and your GPA is low, what is your best guess as to your chances?
