Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

I know the steps in each skill are weighted differently, and Pearson VUE grades the exams, but does anyone know if you miss a bolded step does that mean you've pretty much already failed the skills portion of the exam? Has anyone missed a bolded step and still passed?

If you miss a bolded step you fail the entire skills portion -- that rule is listed in the book. But fortunately they're aren't too many bold steps.

Oh no!! I'm probably stressing myself out way too much! Anyone hear anymore about points for the spring... or the fall?

Hi all! It looks like those who had points between 162-210 got in for fall 2016, and those who had points between 140-161 were alternates. So glad to finally have a gauge with this new point system! It's probably safe to say that if you apply in July with 162+ points, you'll slide right into the program since spring is usually less points than the fall. Hopefully I can get some numbers out of Ms. Watkins, but I'm thinking that the spring may start at 155. I have this feeling there's not going to be too much of a point difference between the two semesters, but we will see. Anyone more hopeful now about applying?

I guess I am a little more hopeful. Trying to really zero in on this TEAS exam. That's my last step and maintain this A in HUM 115. How many points will you have when you apply, or have you mentioned that earlier.

I mentioned it a couple of comments back, but it all depends on these classes that I'm taking now. If I make A's in both I'll have 186. If I make B's in both I'll have 174. I'm trying to keep my A's, but won't be too hard on myself if I make B's. It'll be my luck, this one semester, spring points will be higher than fall lol.

I really believe you'll be right fine. Those are pretty good points for the Spring. What classes are you enrolled in now and are you taking summer courses? Never told you what my vitals were, it was radial pulse (which I didn't have a second hand watch for until the morning off) and the pair before me had urinary output. What day and where is your skills and exam. Mine was in Durham , not much to say about the facility.

Jpeters247, I'm taking Nutrition and Developmental Psychology both online. I was thinking about taking a math course this summer since my math class will expire in spring 2017. If I went ahead and took a math course then if I hypothetically didn't get in when I applied in July, I would have the opportunity to apply again. I know for nursing you can just take the placement test if your math expires to meet the math requirement, but I'm also applying to the radiography program and that program requires an actual class, you can't sit for the placement test to meet the math requirement. Although nursing is my priority, I'm keeping my options open. I really hope I get pulse or respirations, but it'll be my luck I get blood pressure. My exam is at Wake Tech in early May.

Anybody have any tips for the written portion of the CNA exam? Did anyone purchase a good study book that they felt really benefited them? I'm considering that and wanted some suggestions.

Hey Pereogy! Hope all is well and you're hanging in there until orientation. There was some info on another thread we are on regarding Fall 2016 applicants that may be good news for you. Not sure that a lot of people accepted their seats! Have you received your other letter from the secondary school?

Kala, I've been studying both books (McGraw and the ATI) for about 3 weeks now. I purchased them so I could mark them heavily! I also will be taking my Teas next month, allowing time for another if need be. Crossing fingers for the both of us that we nail it the first time. I'm trying so to hard to focus on the TEAS that I can't even think about my other two classes, failing to realize these class matter as well. This is the reason why taking a class (CNA) was out the question for me. Can't find the time.

Hey JPeters...I just saw it!!! I'm hoping it means good things for me!!! I won't know anything from my secondary school until May, so I have plenty of time to stress over Wake lol.
