I would just be ready to hit the ground running if you "get the call/email/letter" and otherwise try to stay as calm as possible. Have a back-up plan in place and pursue that as much as possible in the mean time.
best wishes to you and congrats for being at the top of the list!

I was fourth on the wait list for my RN program... I got called at 4pm the day before class started!! I had to go immediately to the school take the hesi entrance exam (its not required by my school until acceptance, and is only used as a baseline), take and pass the posology test, and enroll for classes (all by 5pm!!) I was so excited!! I said all this just to say... Stay Positive! You may get the call at anytime, so be ready :) Good LUck and let us know what happens
Crazy things can happen. I was first on the wait list and had people at the school telling me to have other plans. Two people died - very freaky - that had already gotten in so their spaces opened up. The school ended up opening 8 spaces and I got in. Not everyone is getting financial aid so you may just have a chance with the drop date! Hang in there!
How did you find out that you are first on the list? I was waitlisted for spring 2012 and I have NO IDEA where I am in line. Would it be inappropriate of me to ask the admissions counselor who has been helping me with the process? I was told to have everything ready to go (immunizations records, etc) because I could get "the call" up until the day before the program starts in January. I'm hoping that by being waitlisted I'll have a much better chance of being accepted for summer start.
GOOD LUCK! I hope you get "the call"!

I'm the first person on a waitlist (and have been in the first position since the beginning) at a small school admitting 30 students per class. Classes start Aug 30, which doesn't leave much time between now and when classes start. A few questions I had was:
1) The no payment drop date is this thursday, does this signify a chance for a cut?
2) Is there anything I should do to prepare in the meantime?
3) Has anyone had a similar experience at a smaller school and have any luck?
It's making me completely nervous for something I'm really excited for!!! Thank-you ahead of time for any advice you may have.
