VENT--no call after my interview.

I know that with my hospital I dont get through their email system so maybe try a phone call? I thought I was being so nice with the email thank yous and they didnt get any of them! They never got my emails later too. For some reason Im blocked from the system. Try calling :)

I have had the same experience during my job hunting for the last few months. Its really upsetting when you hear nothing. I just have begun to think that maybe I don't actually want to work for someone who can't even give me a courtesy call back or email saying that the position has been filled, especially when you have been trying to follow up with them. Really unprofessional. I had an interview at a LTC facility where the nurse doing the hiring was an lpn, whom I emailed and called to follow up with cause the interview went really well I thought, and she couldn't even find the time to email me back. A real display of a lack of leadership skills I thought. Anyways, always remember the toes you step on today, may lead to the a## you have to kiss tomorrow. Good luck! You will find something, and the people that have some respect for being a professional will call you back or email, even when you dont get the job.

Is it just me or are employers afraid of newly RN grads??? I remember just a year ago, employers were chasing newly RN grads to work for them with sign-in bonuses. Nowadays, we are chasing them in desperation. Who is really to blame for this mess?

So here's the update.

I still haven't gotten a call or an email from this hospital. Today I learned through the grapevine that all but one of the positions were most likely filled before the interview process even began. The last position was filled by someone who *knew* someone.

I will not be applying there again.

Don't you just love it? A potential employer expects you to behave in a "professional" manner, which includes being very responsive to their requests. They, on the other hand, feel no such obligation to you. Interesting - it may show the "true" nature of the organization.

I guess I'm lucky that my job search only lasted 2-3 months. My employer was the ONLY ONE to bother sending a written response basically just saying "we've received your application/resume/cover letter, and will be reviewing your qualifications....we'll be in touch if we thing you might fit in." A couple days later, the recruiter called me. She was always responsive to my followup questions, and made herself available to give me a tour of the facility when I went down to KY for my face-to-face interviews. So far, so good!

It's good to know I'm not alone. I know I'm a new grad and jobs are scarce right now. I don't want a hand out; I want to be hired at a place that needs me and wants me to be part of a team. If that isn't available, a simple phone call or email telling me that they will not be hiring me would make me happy!

And to top it off, I didn't call back a psych facility that wanted to hire me a month ago because that's when this hospital called me and put me through this time wasting month of writing essays and interviewing for these non-existent positions. I heard the psych facility was still hiring, and when I called, they did remember me...as the person who was supposed to call them a month ago. They told me they were still making hiring decisions and would call me Monday, now today. It's 3:41pm and still no call. I think I blew it.

I fought so hard to try and get hired by a hospital because everyone keeps telling me that's where new grads need to go.

I'm going crazy sitting at home, waiting for the phone to ring...checking my email every 15 minutes.

The hiring manager from the ED finally called me. I didn't get the job, obviously. She said I interviewed "beautifully", which was nice to hear. I thought I blew the interview because I was so nervous. And the only reason I wasn't at the top of the hiring list was because many of the other applicants had expensive certifications like ACLS and PALS, which I do not. I'm not sure I believe that was the reason, but it's nice to have closure.

And the good news...I got a full time position at the psychiatric facility! Hooray, the job search is over! I'm really happy, because ED and Psych are my favorite specialties, and I'm grateful that I got into one of them.
