I need a little help here...we had a test review today and one of the questions most missed was about venous congestion. I do not remember the exact question but the question mentioned cirrhosis and hepatic disorder and venous congestion and wanted to know what problem to expect as a nurse.
There were 4 options...one was Jaundice, another was crackles, and I do not remember the other two.
According to the instructor, crackles was the answer because he related venous congestion to FVE My thinking is that had it said something about pulmonary venous congestion, crackles would be correct. However, this was a hepatic disorders test and the question clearly mentioned hepatic disorders...
AM I WRONG IN MY THINKING? Please help me to understand this!

with venous congestion...the excess fluid builds up in the cardiovascular system. Crackles are heard as the fluid starts backing up into the lungs and leaking across membranes. the question needs to be more specfic with more info to explain further. Always figure if you are trying to figure out assessment vs intervention questions.
As with most of our questions...they are generally vague.
